Free Professional Ducted System Design

Designed for Installers, Builders & Homeowners

Every home and project is unique. A well-designed ducted system is essential for achieving the comfort, performance, airflow, and efficiency your project deserves.

At Airflow Engineering – The HVAC Shop, we provide a complimentary Ducted System Design service to help you plan your installation with confidence.

Whether you're an HVAC installer, builder, or homeowner, our team will create a custom ducted system layout tailored to your project, airflow requirements, and selected equipment.

How It Works

1. Send Us Your Plans

Email your plans and project details to sales@thehvacshop.co.nz, including:

  • Floor plans

  • Project address

  • New build or existing home

  • Ceiling height and roof type

  • Preferred return air location

  • Heat pump brand and model (if known)

  • Zoning requirements or special requests

2. We Design Your System

Using professional HVAC design software and over 30 years of industry experience, we create a custom ducted system design for your project.

Your design package includes:

  • Duct layout and sizing

  • Supply air grille locations

  • Return air sizing and placement

  • Airflow calculations

  • Optional zoning integration

  • Optional fresh air integration

  • Itemised materials list and quotation

3. Review & Confirm

Your design provides a clear plan for installation, pricing, and project coordination.

Installers, builders, and homeowners can all work from the same accurate design, helping to avoid costly mistakes and improve installation efficiency.

4. Quote & Supply

Once approved, we provide a complete quotation for all required components, including ducting, plenums, grilles, fittings, branches, zoning products, and accessories.

Components can be collected or delivered directly to site.

Working With Installers

Airflow Engineering is committed to supporting HVAC contractors and working alongside the trade, not competing with it.

While our ducted system designs can be developed around Mitsubishi Electric and other ducted heat pump brands, we recommend that the installing contractor sources the heat pump equipment through their preferred supplier network.

This allows installers to maintain their existing supplier relationships, pricing structures, and warranty processes while benefiting from our design expertise and comprehensive range of ducted system components.

Airflow Engineering specialises in supplying the components that complete the system, including custom plenums, ducting, grilles, fittings, zoning products, and associated accessories.

Mitsubishi Electric ducted units can be supplied by Airflow Engineering where appropriate; however, our preferred approach is to support installers by complementing their existing supply arrangements rather than replacing them.

Important Information

Our Ducted System Design service is intended to assist with planning, system layout, and component selection. Final equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and compliance remain the responsibility of the installing HVAC contractor.

Airflow Engineering supplies ducting, plenums, grilles, branches, fittings, zoning products, and associated accessories, helping installers deliver complete, high-performing ducted systems.
